Atmospheric oxidants (including O3, HOx=OH+HO2, NOx=NO+NO2, NO3 and halogen oxides) activate and accelerate atmospheric chemistry. These oxidants influence air quality by producing photochemical pollutants such as O3 and secondary organic aerosol (SOA) in the atmosphere via complex chemical processes involving chemical speices that are anthropogenically and/or naturally emitted into the atmosphere.
